POSTURAL MISALIGNMENT

During every precious second of every day we are adjusting our body in tiny increments either into or out of alignment. When we are out of alignment we experience injury and pain easily and physical deformities develop as a result. Returning to correct alignment requires a commitment and a reliable set of instructions to get us there.

How many things around you help to keep you in a poor physical state? Over generations we have become taller, but our appliances and building standards haven’t followed suit. Body misalignment and back, neck and shoulder pain that follows is often a result of every day activities we give no attention to, things like: the height of our kitchen sink, the length of our vacuum cleaner hose, the height of our shower head, the shape of our favourite chair, the thickness of our pillow, the height of the shoes we wear, the type of car we drive and the way we get out of bed in the morning. How many times each day do you use your body without thinking?

Our muscles are supposed to work like elastic. They interlock in spirals throughout our body to support our skeleton and when functioning correctly they have a built in natural ability to release tension. Muscle that has been subject to repetitive stress is quicker to tighten and less likely to release itself. The only way to turn-off dominant muscles is to rebalance the body from head to toe and adopt new daily principles to live into. Awareness is the first step towards change.

When we are out of alignment dominant muscles develop to carry our weight and this postural imbalance shows up on our body through a series of stress lines that zigzag down throughout our torso. The gap between our rib cage and pelvis takes the load. The direct stress line that comes from the rounding of our shoulders ends up at the bottom of our rib cage and forces our ribs to sit forward, our stomach to pooch-out and our pelvis to tilt backwards. Our spinal discs, stomach and back muscles compress as our trunk accordions down and as a result our waistline widens and we develop a spare tyre mid-drift that dieting won’t shift!

Physical rebalancing can only be achieved when we address our body as a whole. We need to start right down at our feet and work all the way up to our crown (on the top of our head). If we have lost our natural foot arches, chances are that the outside edges of our feet have over-developed to compensate, our knees have turned in and our hips have twisted. Repetitive tasks like carrying a small child on the same hip or using the same arm each day to carry a heavy briefcase only makes the matter worse

When we are young we can get away with postural mishaps but as we age and as our synovial fluid reduces (the fluid that helps lubricate our joints for freedom of movement) it becomes more obvious when we are out of alignment. A misalignment today can become a serious limp or deformity tomorrow if we choose to ignore it.

Postural misalignment is a major problem! It’s the No.1 cause of back pain and after the back it affects our hips and knees – in fact all areas subject to movement. Remaining out of alignment is a sure way of creating problems. Our nerves are also greatly affected when our spine is out of alignment because we interrupt the flow of energy through our nervous system. Our muscles remain tight and mental illness can develop because we are less likely to be able to relax.

FutureGym exercise teaches you how to bring your complete musculoskeletal system into alignment and balance. Only in this state can the body function effectively. With the right attention to detail most misalignments can be corrected within six weeks. FutureGym exercise promotes freedom of movement and provides a reliable and safe platform for the development of strength, conditioning, flexibility and agility.

The FutureGym program makes alignment correction easy. The exercises help you to identify all problem areas so that you can make positive changes to your postural and movement habits immediately.

SHOULDERS ROUNDING FORWARD

Years ago spinal curvature was associated with age but today thanks to modern technology and the increase in sedentary positions where repetitive forward activity is performed, it is now common to see people of all ages with a form of spinal kyphosis (postural stoop where the spine has hunched over and shoulders have rounded forward). The only direction your body goes once in this position is further towards the ground unless it is corrected.

When our shoulders have rounded forward we experience tightness across our chest and ongoing pain in our neck and shoulders. The upper back curvature forces our neck out of alignment and throws a direct pressure line into our abdominals causing them to protrude out which in turn places pressure on our lower spine, hips and pelvis. It’s a jig-jag effect that makes us look and feel years older than we are and it does nothing for our posture or confidence.

FutureGym exercise teaches you how to bring length back into your spine and your shoulders back into alignment during everyday practice so you can continue to do the things you enjoy without experiencing pain. And you’ll grow taller in height too! FutureGym exercises help to return the full natural length into your spine so you can walk tall with confidence.

BACK PAIN

Our body was NOT designed to bend through the torso, however most people use their back as if it were a hinge. In addition to poor postural habits, modern day life is creating a unique number of problems. Sitting at computers all day and not taking breaks to correct our posture is causing our neck and shoulders to round forward. Our head weighs between 3.6 and 5.0 kilograms and when positioned off-line something has to carry this weight. When our head and shoulders have rounded forward it’s our neck and upper back that carry our weight.

Muscles that are forced to repetitively support our weight become dominant. They tighten and over-develop to carry our weight when we are out of alignment. They are most common around the neck and shoulder area and in the lower back, but are also found in the centre back where spinal compression and rigidity has occurred. Muscle memory keeps our dominant muscle active. They are always first to tighten when support is required. This is why people with back pain keep reliving their injuries.

Each misbalance we have creates another problem. The back is our main problem area because when we are out of alignment and not using our pelvic floor muscles to support our weight it’s our back that carries our full load. Eventually our back weakens under pressure and back pain becomes a reoccurring problem in our life.

All of the FutureGym exercises are designed to lengthen the spine and open space for freedom of movement between each vertebra while they strengthen and stretch other muscles. Another exciting element of FutureGym exercise is that if you feel a muscle tightening in your back following improper postural and movement activity the exercises can be used to release muscle spasm immediately to avoid further problems. When you practice FutureGym exercise which address the entire body from head to toe you learn new postural and movement habits that will keep you safe and pain-free for life.

PELVIS TIPPED BACKWARDS

If your pelvis is tipped backwards in a stationary position it’s a clear sign that the muscles in your lower back are tight and your vertebrae are rigid and compressed. Failure to address repositioning of your pelvis promotes back and hip pain.

FutureGym exercise is designed to address this problem and restore freedom of movement into your lower spine and pelvis. The exercises open space between your vertebrae, set new resting positions in the deep muscles of your lower back, restore length in your hip flexors and reopen space for freedom of movement in your hip sockets.

FutureGym exercise teaches you how to curl your pelvis gently and slowly, engaging and stretching all of your lower back muscles into the movement. With practice the pelvis returns to neutral positioning which is exactly where you want it to be. This correct postural alignment repositioning eliminates all signs of a swayback and lower back pain.

THICKENED WAISTLINE

How often do we look at our waistline and make comment about our diet not knowing that spinal compression and loss of space between our vertebrae is the No.1 reason behind changing our hour-glass waistline into a rectangular trunk.

FutureGym exercise teaches you how to bring length back into your spine and eliminate all pressure placed on your midriff, returning the natural shape that abdominal exercises and a sensible diet will complement.

HIP PAIN

Hip surgery is next in line at the top of the list to back surgery in our hospitals today and its not surprising because these two areas are closely related.

Losing mobility in our lower spine places pressure on our hips and we lose the space in our hip sockets. This is a direct result of sitting for long periods which is common 21st century activity. When the ball and socket of the hip joint is compressed, synovial fluid (joint lubrication) is not able to enter the hip socket/cavity causing wear and tear on the joint. When our legs are jammed tightly into our hip sockets and no fluid is available for protection bone meets bone and wear occurs.

FutureGym exercise teaches you how to restore space in your hip sockets and using gentle exercises that follow the natural outward rotation of the muscular system, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues are able to be lengthened extending space for freedom of movement in the hips.

With regular practice and high attention to detail that FutureGym delivers movement can be restored in no time at all and most hip operations can be avoided.

PRE & POST NATAL

FutureGym exercises are gentle and non-impact yet highly-effective which makes them an ideal exercise choice for you and your baby both during and after pregnancy. They are the perfect solution for pre & post natal addressing back pain, body shaping, pelvic floor strengthening and relaxation in one comprehensive routine.

Many expectant mums have done our exercises right up to delivery, have experienced a much easier childbirth and have kept full control of their pelvic floor muscles even after several children. FutureGym exercise helps to keep you in great shape during pregnancy and it works fast to pull you back ‘in and up’ once your baby is born. FutureGym exercise teaches you how to engage, activate and strengthen your three pelvic floor muscles, naturally and safely without even thinking.

Another bonus is that once your baby is born the exercises can be done comfortably around the baby’s timetable and there’s no equipment to set up and dismantle. Whether you’re taking 10 minutes out for yourself during your baby’s nap or simply isolating your muscles and sculpting your body while preparing an evening meal, the program gives you full control of your body and with that an increase in confidence.

The gentle nature of FutureGym exercise and the effectiveness that comes from the requirement to relax during exercise is wonderful physiologically for you and your baby. The exercises are extremely soothing!

PELVIC FLOOR & INCONTINENCE

FutureGym exercise shows us how to find and use our three pelvic floor muscles individually and collectively. Use of our pelvic floor muscles is essential for posture correction, balance, strength and conditioning. Very little has been known about the pelvic floor muscles until now which explains why people still spend millions of dollars each year on incontinence products.

FutureGym teaches us that the pelvis which consists of two pieces of bone connecting at the pubis symphysis and at either side of the sacrum is able to move independently of the sacrum in three different directions. We do this by using our three pelvic floor muscles which consist of an outermost layer (used in mainstream pelvic floor exercises), a middle layer and an innermost layer (unique to this style of exercise). When using our three pelvic floor muscles the bones at the base of our pelvis are drawn closer together causing the top of our pelvis to flange open like a flower. This adjustment not only improves our posture, it provides a reliable and safe base for extending flexibility, it enhances ON/OFF functionality in our lower back muscles, promotes freedom of movement by extending space in our hip sockets and vertebrae and reduces or completely eliminates back pain and incontinence.

In addition to this, our pelvic floor muscles can engage every single muscle in our body including the tiny muscles in our fingers and eyelids. Our whole muscular system is intertwined in spirals throughout our body just waiting to be engaged. The intelligent FutureGym internal engagement and pulsing method shows us how to access every muscle in our body to improve ON/OFF functionality, to develop strength, improve circulation, enhance lymphatic drainage and increase physical awareness plus more. The pelvic floor pulsing method is so effective it even massages our internal organs and stimulates our nerve endings.

At FutureGym we want this successful method of pelvic floor strengthening and stimulation to be available to as many women as possible so that incontinence is eliminated and hemorrhoids and organ lowerings are avoided and repaired.

COMPLEMENTARY TO OTHER SPECIALIST SERVICES

FutureGym is introduced as an intelligent solution which highly-complements all other specialist services. Many specialists already familiar with the FutureGym program are enthusiastically recommending it to their patients with full confidence knowing that the FutureGym program is one of the best fitness solutions available for our 21st century lifestyle.

Specialist services as stand-alone treatments can relieve symptoms but mostly do not address the root of the problem and therefore only provide temporary relief. It is for this reason that FutureGym is welcomed by many practitioners to complement the services they provide.

The best way to promote positive change is to implement new daily habits to live into; to adopt new daily postural and movement habits that make a difference!

FutureGym works intelligently and comprehensively. The exercises bring your entire musculoskeletal system back into alignment and balance to aid physical management and promote faster healing. With practice the exercises teach you how to become your own physical-therapist, recognising problem areas well before they need attention and stopping muscle tightness and muscle spasm immediately it its tracks.
