Program Science

What makes the FutureGym method so effective?

It’s neuromusculoskeletal:

It addresses the brain, nerves, muscles, and skeleton at the exact same time; an essential requirement for restoring beauty, enhancing performance, and ending pain.

It’s based on anatomy science:

It ignites both alpha and gamma motor-neurons, and promotes visual motor rehearsal making your exercise time very efficient indeed. No energy is wasted, no equipment is used, and results come fast. The body is conditioned reliably with millimetre accuracy and precision.

By retraining muscles to function properly whilst they are being held in contraction at full length, the most attractive muscle tone is achieved. Tension is released, and the body restores good posture. Movement improves, and beautiful shape and definition is noticeable after only 3-4 sessions. When you learn FutureGym you’ll agree, no other program operates at this advanced level or delivers as many important practice benefits.

The FutureGym Method:

Reaches deep into the centre of all core muscles individually, including the deeper muscles which underlie the larger surface muscles not reached by other programs. This allows individual problem areas and physical misbalances to be directly targeted and improved.
Reconditions the whole body from head to toe in equal measures of physical dimension, and works in symmetrical precision across sagittal, frontal and transverse planes, addressing all interlocking helical bone, joint, and muscle structures with accurate precision.
Retrains muscles to evenly support the weight of the skeleton in stationary positions and in motion, repetitively, resulting in smoother acceleration into movement with an increase in movement accuracy and precision.
Addresses the brain, nerves, muscles and skeleton simultaneously, improving posture and movement behaviour, enhancing physical appearance and promoting visual motor rehearsal allowing results to be retained easily.
Uses 100% of available energy in the area being conditioned. Results are fast and because the positions are stationary and require no-effort they can be performed by people of all ages and fitness levels with no risk of injury.
Incorporates accurate pelvic floor engagement with skeletal alignment precision and uses tiny myofascial movements that penetrate deeply to separate the thin fibrosis tissue that covers every organ, muscle and muscle fibre, releasing muscle tension and promoting muscle length and relaxation.
Incorporates an internal pulsing method that improves circulation and strengthens and conditions the whole body from the inside-out. Motor-relearning is promoted via stimulation of the nervous system, delivering dynamic sustainable improvements to automatic brain, nerve, and muscle signal response activity.
Integrates all essential elements for reliable pain-relief, posture correction, performance enhancement, and body-sculpture, and presents them in such a way that they are easy to understand and apply with only the simplest knowledge of anatomy.

Why is FutureGym so effective at lifting, shaping and toning the body, and restoring optimal physical condition?

FutureGym is effective because it uniquely stimulates both alpha and gamma motor-neurons.

Alpha motor-neurons are the large nerve fibers which extend from the spinal cord out to the muscle. They terminate in numerous motor ending plates which squirt acetylcholine over the muscle fiber to initiate muscle contraction when the axon (the extension of a nerve cell that transmits impulses outwards from the cell body) is stimulated.

Three sources are available to fire muscle contraction activity:

1. Via the brain and its desire to move a muscle (the brain signals the pyramidal tracts to fire the alpha motor-neuron).

2. Via the spinal cord reflex (when muscle is stretched it fires a signal to the alpha motor-neuron to register and return the muscle to its standard length).

3. Via the annulo-spiral endings tucked within muscle spindles (the annulo-spiral endings are able to trick the spinal cord to report a stretch and excite the gamma motor nerves inside each muscle spindle accessing the numerous motor ending plates on the spiral fibers just below the annulo-spiral sensory nerves).

Activities 1 and 2 (the direct methods) using the Alpha Motor System, require maximum energy and brain power, whereas activity 3 (the indirect method working via the hundreds of muscle spindles) using the Gamma Motor System, provides a much smoother acceleration into movement than the direct method.

We can only use the direct method when we know in advance what is required and have previous experience of the required movement. It is the repetition of each exact movement during FutureGym practice which fires the alpha motor neurons in a smooth direct sequence.

For those new to FutureGym, confidence in the methods ability to effectively improve muscle tone can be developed through the tiny repetitive pulses performed internally using the pelvic floor to access and stimulate muscular ON/OFF contractions, and externally via subtle myofascial movements no larger than 1-2 millimetres performed while muscles are held in contraction. These actions signal the gamma system to reset the annulo-spiral endings to the new practice setting and to reset the tone and performance ability of all muscles being held in contraction.

Why is the FutureGym breathing method so effective at improving our use of oxygen and relaxing our muscles for reliable behavioural response reprogramming?

FutureGym uses oxygen efficiently and retrains the performance of our lungs on both a proactive and reactive manner.

When we inhale our diaphragm muscle moves downwards causing our abdomen to naturally expand. When our abdomen expands the volume of our lungs increases, especially the lower lobes where most of the oxygen exchange takes place. As our belly expands, our lungs open and air is draw in and into our arteries and from there our red blood cells transport the oxygen throughout our body.

After our bodies tissues have used the oxygen we require the wastage is turned into carbon dioxide and is carried back to our lungs through our veins and is removed from our body as we exhale. During this process our chest may move, but only minimally.

If our chest is noticeably expanding as we are inhaling we are causing muscle tightness, stress, tension, anxiety and promoting heart disease. Unfortunately today, chest breathing has become common practice and in many cases is a contributing factor to back, neck and hip pain.

Chest breathing tightens the chest which pulls the shoulders forward and places strain on the back. And since our body still requires a regular amount of oxygen, our breathing rate speeds up in order to supply our red blood cells with the energy rate they need and produces quick breathing.

Quick breathing immediately changes our oxygen supply to an acid base causing it to bind too tightly to our red blood cells and as a result too little is delivered to our bodies tissues. Our body becomes energy starved. Chest breathing also constricts our blood vessels, resulting in poor circulation and energy starvation of our brain and heart which have the largest oxygen requirements.

Each breath we take should be long, slow and even, about 4 seconds each way ‘in and out’. When we are physically and mentally relaxed breathing this way is achievable. When we make a point of breathing this way we become physically and mentally relaxed. Our lungs are simply muscles that also require our attention.

FutureGym exercise improves our breathing proactively and reactively:

We take a proactive approach through our requirement to breathe slowly and deeply while going into position and when pulsing internally or externally while holding each position. Breathing this way allows us to fully identify with our muscular system engagement so we can recognise our pain and performance zones and relax our muscles while holding them into the engagement to create new performance boundaries. By breathing this way we are able to maximize our use of oxygen during our internal and external pulsing activity which in addition to relaxing and lengthening our muscles (using myofascial techniques) is automatically reprogramming our muscular response activity through repetitive nerve stimulation.

The reactive approach happens naturally. As we perform FutureGym exercise, due to the increased requirement of oxygen because of the engagement and pulsing method which is improving circulation and stimulating blood-flow while lengthening and reconditioning our muscles, if we are not getting sufficient oxygen into our blood or if we have become energy starved due to poor breathing habits during our day (stress related or otherwise), our body very naturally takes in the exact amount of oxygen it needs to restore our optimal blood flow. We are able to recognise this by our continual yawning which replenishes our oxygen supply as soon as we begin FutureGym exercise. We may also find that we yawn only when working certain muscles or muscle groups as energy blockages are released.
