Aging and Retaining Mobility
Retaining mobility as we age is one of our most important requirements, since loss of mobility promotes injury and pain, and a loss of life quality. When this happens feelings of inadequacy and dependency occur which result in frustration and depression.
We have the opportunity to plan ahead to mitigate health complications. If we choose to live into a corrective posture and movement practice method today, we increase our chance of remaining mobile and functional throughout our aging years.
By restoring and retaining the space between our vertebrae and in our hip and shoulder sockets, ensuring our posture is in good alignment, and keeping our muscles moderately lengthened and conditioned we can take years off how we look and feel, and retain our optimal physical condition throughout our aging years.
Planning ahead to remain mobile as we age has become even more important with the population demographic average age increase which will see 2 people aged 65 years and over to every person under 20 years of age during the next 10 years. This means the average workforce age will also increase placing emphasis on the need to remain functional, and because we can not rely on our healthcare systems to meet the additional service requirements traditionally associated with age, it is paramount we take responsibility for our own well-being.
At around forty years of age we begin to see the first real signs of the aging process.
The reduction of synovial fluid (fluid which lubricates our joints, aids freedom of movement and protects us from impact shock) causes us to feel much stiffer and tighter in our movements.
Our vertebrae column is like an elastic rod, the mobility of which is restricted by the functionality of our muscles and ligaments. During the aging process our vertebrae undergoes various changes which reduces the thickness of our vertebra disks resulting in spinal compression and spinal curvature (kyphosis and lordosis) which further reduces our mobility.
The natural reduction of synovial fluid further decreases our freedom of movement, reduces our range of motion, and increases our risk of misalignments, muscular imbalances and injuries.
Avoiding exercise makes the matter worse, however we need to pay greater attention to detail than what mainstream fitness and rehabilitation programmes and therapies provide, and there are good reasons for this.
FutureGym exercise is designed so it can be easily practiced throughout the aging process. The exercise method is very gentle yet highly-effective. It restores youthful condition quickly, and you can lose 2-3 dress or trouser sizes without losing weight in the face or from the breasts which is great news for people who are inclined to look gaunty and haggard following exercise and weight loss programs.
With FutureGym, excess fat is replaced with long lean toned muscle which makes you look and feel years younger than your true age.
“FutureGym has added motivation and I have lost weight and gained energy. The cramping in my legs and feet has disappeared. My agility at 54 has taken me back to feeling as flexible as I was at 30. The discipline, meditation and general ambience has been wonderful psychologically. I feel it is the perfect answer for people of all ages and is more scientific and medically geared for the body”- Tina, 54, Interior Designer
“I have had a long history of back problems and neck stiffness and have had a great deal of physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments over the years. I have found that the FutureGym exercises have reduced my pain. I feel strong and more flexible and I walk better. Neck stiffness has improved and I can ease myself out of pain with the exercises” - Louise, 63, Solicitor
All of this, and another fabulous bonus:
FutureGym exercise develops pelvic floor strength which reduces or eliminates incontinence and improves physical balance and stability. Combined with FutureGym’s clever brain-nerve-muscle-skeleton (neuromusculoskeletal) working method which improves coordination and reaction speed, FutureGym addresses the most essential requirements affected by the aging process.
Everything mentioned here is achieved at the same time the program is freeing up movement in the hip and shoulder sockets, realigning the skeleton, and rebalancing muscles.
FutureGym will give you the opportunity to participate in life and manage your aging years with confidence.
